The day I went back to UP Diliman

I few weeks ago, I got to go back to UP Diliman, my university - the University of the Philippines. I didn’t know how much I missed the place! The spaces, the trees, the (fresh) air, the whole uplifting academic enviroment that just makes you love learning and go back to school.

Even though I only got to go inside Palma Hall aka AS again, still some pictures just had to be taken for the sake of.

In front of Palma Hall - the AS steps, student groups are given freedom to express their feelings by street painting/messages, may it be for the sake of art, political or social views. Events and gathering are held here a lot, too.

Inside AS, there are boards anyone can postto  freely (…so, just imagine how it was in the non-cellphone eras…), walls are canvases (here  seen in the center, the Oblation, the symbol of UP, around it various scenes from our history). Lobbies are usually hangout/meeting places, waiting areas, or “tambayan” with no seats around, we just crash on the floors - the UP way… I guess not anymore?

And what do you do in UP to kill time? (if you weren’t studying or partying that is.. hehe…) We eat!

I met up with some friends, met new people and had lunch with them after their Japanese class.

The Beach House (nope, no sand around.. or water) - still the best darn barbeque in campus. It’s right behind the Main Library, with the Sunken Garden on the other side (just grass, area for events and games, common “tambayan”… and yes, a piece of land still sinking, and not to forget a fault line crosses it).

I didn’t get to eat fishballs (staple student foodie) but I treated myself for some mint choco ice cream from Alicia’s and.. woohoo… ISAW (innards, intestines.. yeah. yum.) Ice cream + isaw = ?

Another reason I went to UP was because of shops like this -

I had some/tons of manuals and papers to get photocopied and the only affordable, reliable shops are like Blessings in UP’s Shopping Center. Paraang estudyante. I’ll probably be making a couple more of the same trip the coming weeks.

UP naming Mahal…~
